Biography
Karl F Freed has received his BS in Chemical Engineering from Columbia University 1963) and a MA (1965) in Physics and a PhD (1967) in Chemical Physics from Harvard University with Postdoctoral studies in Theoretical Physics at the University of Manchester, England before joining the University of Chicago (1968) where he is the Henry G Gale Distinguished Service Professor, Emeritus. He has published more than 600 papers and he has received the ACS Award in Pure Chemistry and the APS Polymer Physics Prize and he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
